Parking is free, first-come first-served, with about 1,800 spaces at the base. Check the road status (open, 4WD-or-chains required, or closed) and carpark capacity before driving up the sealed Bruce Road from Whakapapa Village (about 6 km). Platinum Parking is an optional upgrade sold with season passes for a guaranteed closer space (not available as a standalone day product). A free all-day Park & Ride is available in National Park for pre-booked shuttles; parking in Whakapapa Village near the Chateau is limited to 3 free hours.
